RAMBLERS are being encouraged to take advantage of 19 free walks being put on to promote the South Downs.
The South Downs Society has organised the walks, between September 15 and 29, as a way of opening people’s eyes to the national park which sits right on Eastbourne’s doorstep.
They range from a three-mile stroll up to a 16-mile walk and take in the three counties covered by the South Downs.
Jane Major, of the South Downs Society, said she hoped people would, “Get away from the noise and pollution of over-crowded roads to the peace and tranquillity of ancient woodlands, open downland and some of the most spectacular views in the south East of England. Join our walks leaders and like minded folk for the opportunity to delight in the Downs.”
