Police in Eastbourne are holding a series of information days to prevent residents becoming the victim of scams.

Officers from Eastbourne neighbourhood policing team will be at supermarkets in the town over the next fortnight giving out advice and taking reports from people who have received large amounts of scam mail or unwanted phone calls.

Operation Signature is Sussex Police’s campaign to identify and support vulnerable victims of fraud across the county.

Criminals worldwide are sending millions of scam letters into the UK, targeting elderly and vulnerable members of our communities.

An estimated 3.5 billion pounds was sent out of the UK in response to scams last year alone.

If you would like more information on Operation Signature or if you receive a large amount of scam mails or phone calls, then please come and speak to the neighbourhood policing team at:

- 10am to 3pm on Monday 16 February at Asda, Crumbles Retail Park, Eastbourne

- 10am to 3pm on Friday 20 February at Sainsbury’s, Broadwater Way, Eastbourne

- 10am to 3pm on Monday 23 February at Tesco, Lottbridge Drove, Eastbourne.

If you suspect you have been a victim of fraud, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101.
