EASTBOURNE’s Town Team will be out meeting residents in the town’s shopping heart next weekend.
The team missed out on the first round of the Mary Portas Pilot but is putting forward a new bid for the second round.
Despite losing out firt time round, the Town Team has been awarded £100,000 by Eastbourne Borough Council to start putting their plans in place.
The team comprising businesses and local associations aims to better the town centre, reduce the amount of empty shops and bring more shoppers in.
Eastbourne’s Town Team will be outside TJ Hughes on Friday (July 13) and then Debenhams on Saturday (July 14).
Denise Harwood, commercial director of the Enterprise Centre who has organised the event for the Town Team, said, “We have re-submitted the Portas bid for the second round so that will be on display for people to see.
“Members of the Town Team will answer any questions people may have.
“There will also be the chance to put ideas forward about the town they love.”
The team will be under a gazebo both days between 10am and 4pm.
