The Shinewater Shaftesbury Centre celebrated 21 years of fantastic community work with a special meal at La Locanda Del Duca.

The event was arranged by Lisa Smart, director of the charity Mustard Seed, and was attended by more than 60 people including the town’s MP Stephen Lloyd.

The evening was designed to honour those who have worked and helped at the centre over the years and also to raise the profile of the small local charity.

Entertainment on the night was provided by Helen Ward-Jackson, who performs an amazing Adele Tribute Act and the after dinner speaker was Fran Beckett OBE, who had been CEO of the Shaftesbury Society when it was involved with the centre in the past.

The Shinewater Shaftesbury Centre provides advice, help and counselling to the people of Eastbourne.

The majority of the help given is connected with debt and benefits advice and the free counselling service helps people aged 16 plus years.

Other matters that the centre helps with ranges from housing to family problems, consumer issues to employment questions.
