Carnival team delighted with great response

MORE than 100 organisations and businesses have already entered this year’s Eastbourne Sunshine Carnival.

Organisers are delighted with the response from the community and among those who will be on floats for the procession are children’s nurseries and charities.

The carnival takes place on Saturday, June 2, and the parade will set off from the Sovereign Centre at 7pm and work its way along the seafront 2.2 miles to where it will finish at the Western Lawns.

Those taking part will be collecting cash from the crowds in special buckets and the money from the collection will be divided between charitable and community entrants.

The carnival is being organised by Eastbourne businessman David Cooper after an initiative set up by Stephen Lloyd’s MP’s Commission.

Mr Cooper said, “There has been so much interest and we have had a huge response from people both wishing to enter and to spectate.

“I am very excited by the response.”

Organisations taking part in the carnival will need to get insurance for motorised vehicles but those walking will not need any insurance.

Anyone wishing to take part in the carnival who hasn’t applied yet has until Monday, April 30 which is the latest date entries can be submitted.
