Final preparations are underway for this year’s Eastbourne Carnival on Saturday May 25.

Thousands of people are expected to line the route of the seafront as the carnival procession makes its way from Princess Park up to the Western Lawns from 4pm.

The hunt for the Carnival Queen and Princess continues tomorrow (Saturday May 4) in Eastbourne’s Arndale Centre when our photographer will be taking photographs of ladies and girls of all ages who want to win the title and lead the carnival. She will be in the centre between 10.30am and 4pm.

Those firms entering floats so far include 1066 Harley Davidson Owners Group, Ability Hound, Bespoke Cycle Group, Bishop Bell CE School, Samba Band, Bolivian Pride UK, Bugles & Drums of the Stedfast Association, Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice, Domino’s Pizza, East Sussex Foster Care Association, Eastbourne & Wealden YMCA, Eastbourne Bonfire Society, Eastbourne Demelza House Support Group, Eastbourne Hospitality Association, Eastbourne Lifeguards, Eastbourne Lions Basketball Club, Eastbourne RNLI, Eastbourne Rotary Clubs, Eastbourne Skate Club, Eastbourne Territorial Army, Eastbourne Theatres and Eastbourne Working Men’s Club.

This week Eastbourne Sunshine Carnival Pageant Master Dave Cooper was thrilled to find his rightful home on a trip to London last week.

Dave, who won an award at this year’s Achievers for his efforts to bring back the town’s carnival after a 15-year gap, said he couldn’t believe it when he came across Pageantmaster Court and made the most of the photo opportunity.

He said, “It’s all good publicity for this month’s carnival and don’t forget, it’s not too late to enter or let us know if you would like to volunteer to help out on the day.”
