The return of the Carnival to Eastbourne after a 15 year break in 2012 was a fantastic success and once more the sounds of bands and classic vehicle engines will merge for an even bigger and better event in 2013.
The event is on Saturday May 25 and the seafront procession will start at 4pm from Fisherman’s Green and work its way along the promenade up to the Western Lawns.
Pageant master Dave Cooper said, “The event is a celebration of our fantastic town and its even more fantastic communities of which there are many. This year’s theme is Sussex by the Sea which will bring the familiar tune and patriotic song written in 1907 by William Ward-Higgs to our seafront once more.”
Dave has also thanked all those who are helping.
“In my team we have a number of professionals who provide us with advice and assistance on issues from crowd control to first aid and liaison with the emergency services to command and control matters,” he said.
“We could not run this event without their help and there is much more work that goes on behind the scenes than there is on the night. The marshals of course are an important feature of the event and I would like to personally thank everyone who responded to our call for assistance as well as the emergency services who through close liaison help us to plan the event to such a level of detail that they do.”
Stephen Lloyd MP, who is also involved with the event, said, “I am so pleased the demand for keeping the carnival now it is back has been so high. The team is working flat out to make sure 2013 will be a success and I can see the efforts of Dave and his team are coming together nicely.
“As well as the hours of personal time the team puts into the event we cannot do it without sponsorship and we are delighted the Arndale Centre has agreed to be principal sponsors of this year’s event.”
