ANOTHER major milestone in fundraising for Cancer Research UK has been reached recently by the Eastbourne committee members who have raised the fantastic total of £800,000 over the past 40 years.

The committee led by chairman Jean Bland have raised the total by organising events such as coffee mornings, raffles, collections, Cards for Good Causes, the Christmas Draw, stalls at charity events and also by receiving donations from many local people, clubs and businesses which have also raised money for Cancer Research UK.

Benita Wright, the senior area volunteer manager for East Sussex, said, “The great quality of the committee is apart from their rock like dependability is that when volunteers are needed everyone gets out their diaries and fills the necessary slots. At any event everyone turns up and does their bit. Their enthusiasm and commitment in looking for ways to raise more funds for Cancer Research UK remains as strong as ever.”
