A dog rescue centre is appealing for a family to provide a loving home for this adorable puppy.
Waifs and Strays, based in Seaford, launched the plea this week on behalf of Sophia, an eight-month-old puppy, who is both blind and deaf.
Sue Phillips, from Waifs and Strays, said: “This does not stop her enjoying life to the full and training is by ‘touch’.
“Sophia is extremely clever and picks up things quickly. She can recognise you by smell and touch. She is full of fun and a typical puppy.
“Sophia adores other dogs and is great with cats and children. She is a Bedlington cross saluki.
“She really needs a family who can commit to her and offer her the time she needs, so someone who is home most of the time. She would also benefit from living with another dog.
“Sophia is such a sweetheart, and despite being blind and deaf, she lives a full and happy life.
“She came into our care through no fault of her own. Due to the family’s other dog disliking Sophia immensely, it was a very difficult decision for the family to let her go and it broke their hearts. But Sophia’s happiness needed to come first.”
Anyone who would like to follow Sophia’s progress in her foster family home can visit Facebook at www.facebook.com/pages/Princess-Sophia/1413288182326078?fref=ts.
Sue added: “As you can imagine, Sophia is going to need a very special family to open their heart and their home to her but they will be greatly rewarded with her unconditional love.”
Sophia is neutered, vaccinated and chipped.
Waifs and Strays takes in and rehomes unwanted dogs. Its aims are to provide a special living environment for dogs and help them adapt and find permanent homes of their own.
The organisation is always looking for committed volunteers who can either foster, help, fundraise or rehome dogs.
