C&S: 17/03/08: Eastbourne & District Osteoporosis Society

Bones, healthy ones! The osteoporosis society members listened with interest to their speakers at the annual luncheon held at the Glastonbury.

Dr Clarke and Dr Panthakalam, the group's medical advisor, reported on a conference in Edinburgh for which the group had sponsored them and it was particularly interesting to hear of the evolution in thinking concerning the diagnosis of the disease.

The lunch was very good and much appreciated by the 70 members attending.

After recognition and appreciation of the committee and its chairman, Shirley James, the new chairman, Susan Winge, encouraged members to attend the meeting on May 14 which is called A healthy dose of Vanity, and she emphasised the link between looking well and feeling well.

The Big Bone Walk at Princes Park on June 7 is the group's big fundraiser.

Susan spoke of the need to think of bone health at every age and encouraged everyone to walk.

The event starts at 10.30am for sponsored walkers and 11.30am-2.30pm for general entry.
