Local businesses joined the ranks of council approved traders at a ceremony in Eastbourne earlier this month.
Cllr Rupert Simmons, the Chairman of East Sussex County Council, welcomed them at the joint Buy With Confidence and Support With Confidence event held in the Hydro Hotel.
Also in attendance was Cllr Bill Bentley, the Lead Member for Adult Social Care. Buy With Confidence, managed by Trading Standards, has recruited 59 new businesses since April 2010.
Each one has been vetted to ensure they provide a good service to the general public. It includes trades such as plumbers, electricians, roofers and many others. This now brings the total up to 377 members, with a further 58 applicants awaiting approval.
The details of each member can be found in the Approved Trader Directory which has recently been updated.
Support With Confidence is similar but is aimed at providers of services to the elderly and other vulnerable adults. The scheme launched in October 2010 and there are now 29 businesses and individuals providing care and support to the local community.
This includes personal assistants, gardeners, home maintenance and handypersons, pet sitters, coach services, plumbers and reminiscence services for those with dementia.
