Local businesses in East Sussex are being offered the chance to improve relationships with their customers - and it’s all free of charge.
The County Council’s Trading Standards team has developed a free training programme on The Sale of Goods Act. Trading Standards Officers say that the training will help local firms to improve customer relations and save money.
Councillor Bob Tidy, Lead Member for Community Services at the County Council, said: “According to the Office of Fair Trading, most businesses make general efforts to treat consumers fairly but do so with low levels of awareness of consumer law and specific legal requirements. Sales staff have to grapple with complex laws regarding the sale of goods, which can be confusing.
“Our training aims to simplify all the information that businesses need and present it in an easy-to-understand way, free of legal and technical jargon.”
The County Council says that the training will deliver real benefits, including:
• Reduced costs associated with customer disputes
• Increased levels of customer satisfaction
• Improved relationships between businesses and customers
• Reduced costs in the long run on staff training
“We appreciate the difficulties for businesses in these tough economic times,” added Councillor Tidy. “We know that for our local firms every customer is vital. That’s why our Trading Standards team has developed this training which will help and benefit both businesses and consumers.”
