Anyone who remembers the 1980s for more than Rubik’s Cubes and big hair will have heard of the Falkland Islands – a pair of tiny islands in the Southern hemisphere which just under 3,000 British Nationals call home.
Being so far from their Mother state, locals decided to form an association to tell the world more of their beautiful corner of the world, plus keep residents informed of events, changes and meetings they could contribute to – and needed a website to do just that.
Enter Hastings-based website design company FAT promotions who were commissioned to design and build the new site, having previously created sites for the Falkland Islands Tourist Board so with good local knowledge and an understanding of their requirements.
“The list was quite comprehensive,” says FAT promotions managing director Fiona Allman-Treen.
“As well as a Content Management System with differing access levels for committee members and administrators, there was need for online galleries, internal communication systems and taking payment online for Membership fees from overseas parties.”
The new site also benefits from online newsletters with restricted access to these for Registered Members only, plus the ability to add specific keywords and phrases for the content of each and every page of the site to help with those all important search engine listings.
