THE FINAL push is on to find 70 apprenticeships in 30 days.
Already 130 apprentices have been found work through the Eastbourne 100 campaign, and as the scheme enters its final month more companies and organisations are being urged to pledge support it.
The Eastbourne 100 campaign already smashed its target to find 100 apprenticeships in 100 days which prompted organisers to up the target to 200.
“The Eastbourne 100 campaign is proving to be very successful with only 30 days left and 70 apprentices to find,” said Gavin Smith from the National Apprenticeship Service, which launched the scheme with Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd earlier this year.
“It has been very encouraging to see so many employers stepping up to the challenge and taking on apprentices, they bring real benefits to businesses by improving productivity and motivation, reduces staff turnover and it is proven that 83 per cent of employers rely on their apprentices to provide the skilled workers they need for the future.”
Mr Lloyd said, “I am so impressed Eastbourne companies are stepping up to the challenge for our town.
“Anyone thinking of recruiting for a new or existing position then why not take part in this challenge and offer the place to an apprentice.”
One employer benefiting from apprentices is the Grand Hotel which took on Clare Riley and Jasmine Sellings.
Clare works in housekeeping and is completing an NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service. She is expected to complete her qualification early due to the number of hours she has dedicated to her studies.
Jasmine has also put a lot of effort towards her NVQ and recently completed a Level 2 NVQ in customer service earlier than expected and now works on the hotel reception.
