DISCOUNT department store TJ Hughes will continue to trade under the same name.
The store in Terminus Road was saved from closure after Lewis Home Retail Limited bought four of the failing chain’s flagship stores.
TJ Hughes had previously gone into administration and there were fears the popular Eastbourne store would close.
Councillors and the town’s MP Stephen Lloyd were delighted when it was announced a buyer had been found.
Lewis Home Retail Limited is part of The Benross Group which has also bought the TJ Hughes brand name and the Herald understands the department store will keep the same name.
The Benross Group has said it will invest in ‘freshening-up’ the TJ Hughes store in Eastbourne.
The sale at Eastbourne’s TJ Hughes store is continuing and it is thought that once the current stock is cleared there will be an official opening with the new stock.
