Guinness World Record attempt in National Apprenticeship Week

During National Apprenticeship Week, from today until Friday, The Big Assembly will attempt to set a Guinness World Record.

Schools, young people, parents, careers advisors and employers from across the nation are invited join in the attempt to set the record for the greatest number of people taking part in a careers advice seminar streamed live over the internet.

At 8.45am tomorrow, The Big Assembly launches a live video stream to thousands across the UK wanting to find out more about apprenticeships and career options post 16.

The East and West Midlands Apprenticeship Ambassador Network, Workpays and GetMyFirstJob have created this groundbreaking event, with sponsorship from the National Apprenticeship Service and D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, Leicester and Leicestershire Local Enterprise Partnership.

Employers have offered sponsorship and a selection of career-based prizes for young people, which will be awarded during the presentation. These includd shadowing a chief executive, being involved in a Boots product launch and much more.

Aiming to get more than 5,000 log-ins and to set a new Guinness World Records title in the process, it promises to be an exciting and memorable event.

The Big Assembly, introduced by Robert Halfon, the minister for apprenticeships, will combine commissioned films by and with apprentices plus live question and answer sessions from expert advisers. The webinar will be focused on career options, including apprenticeships.
