A SIGN of the times will take shape in Eastbourne next week.
State-of-the-art digital screens will be set up outside the main entrance to the Arndale Centre from Monday to let shoppers and visitors know what’s happening in the town.
Visitors will be able to view interactive displays showing daily events scheduled throughout the summer and interact with the displays using an App on their Smartphone to claim retail offers and obtain local event information.
The concept has been brought to life by a partnership of Eastbourne Can and local high-tech company iS-digital. It’s part of Eastbourne Can’s drive to keep people connected and the town centre vibrant, and comes fast on the back of the launch of the CloudConnX service that will allow Eastbourne to become one of the most digitally enabled centres along the south coast.
iS-digital is providing their intelligent signage systems which will display What’s On information, current retail offers and local Eastbourne information and news from Monday until July 8.
Will Callaghan, the man behind Eastbourne Can, said: “Eastbourne has hundreds of fantastic events each year, but people tell us they struggle to find out what’s happening.
“The smart signage project will mean that everyone will hear about great events whether they are online or not.”
Stephen Crossley from iS-digital added: “Our intelligent signage systems provide exciting new ways to communicate and interact with residents and visitors and can play a significant role in meeting some of the Towns current challenges”.
Ray Mason from the Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce was delighted with the initiative. He said: “Joining up the seafront, the well visited Arndale Centre and other parts of the Town Centre has been cited as a major marketing challenge and this pilot marks an exciting new approach using state of the art digital communications technology”.
