BUILD East Sussex (BES), a support network set up to help the construction industry in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove, has won a national award.
The network has won an Improvement & Efficiency (iESE) Award – which recognises best practice in delivering service improvements and efficiency.
The award was presented to BES at a ceremony held recently at Church House in London.
BES is a network of construction companies, subcontractors and business support organisations.
Set up in 2009 by East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council, the network now has more than 700 companies registered on its website – www.buildeastsussex.co.uk.
More than 600 work opportunities have also been advertised on the BES website.
Councillor Keith Glazier, Deputy Leader of the County Council, said, “Build East Sussex is a real success story and a very good example of the public and private sector working together to benefit the local economy and local jobs.
“The fact that we have over 700 companies that are BES registered speaks for itself.
“Awards are always very welcome but the most important thing is that BES is helping local companies to win contracts and work with the big construction companies.
“I look forward to seeing its continued growth.”
BES won a silver award in the ‘Progress Through Transparency’ category in the 2012 Improvement & Efficiency Awards.
