This is how the Arndale Centre will look after Eastbourne Borough Council approved the first stage of the £70million town centre revamp.
Members of the local authority’s planning committee last night green ticked the ambitious plans, which will create 22 new retail units, two new floors of car parking and around 650 new jobs.
The people behind the scheme now do not have to return to the Town Hall before starting work and demolition is due to get underway within the next two years.
The new-look shopping centre was received unanimous support during last night’s meeting and was described as a “generation defining” scheme by councillors.
