Time to show some love for Eastbourne traders
WITH Valentine’s Day fast approaching a businesses networking group is urging locals to send love letters to their favourite Eastbourne firms.
The Best of Eastbourne is hoping that by showering our love on businesses across the Sunshine Coast, the town can provide a timely boost to the local economy.
And central to the group’s plan is to embrace 14 Days of Love – starting on February 1 and culminating on Valentine’s Day.
David Ruddle, who heads Best of Eastbourne, has already launched a host of new initiatives designed at helping the local economy – including embracing social networking website Twitter and encouraging firms to hook up online as well as at regular gatherings.
He is hoping local people will show some love for their favourite Eastbourne businesses by writing testimonials in support of them.
These will be included on ‘Best of’s’ website, at www.thebestof.co.uk/local/eastbourne, and on the national 14 Days of Love site at www.thebestof.co.uk/loveometer.
Mr Ruddle said, “Small businesses are the unsung heroes of our community and we really want the residents of Eastbourne to make their day and tell them how much their service means.
“The current economic climate has born witness to the loss of some good companies locally.
“If we all want to continue enjoying these services on our doorstep we need to show our support.”
And, the more gushing the testimonial the better, because a host of prizes are on offer for the best.
Anyone who posts a love message for local businesses on the Best of Eastbourne website between during the two weeks running up to Valentine’s Day will be entered into a draw to win prizes dished out every day during the 14 days of the campaign.
Prizes include an Apple iPad, a hot air balloon ride, a luxurious spa day and a Michelin star restaurant dinner for two.
Mr Ruddle added, “Show the Eastbourne traders that we care about buy local and will support them in these tough times.”
