Eastbourne Motorshow to spotlight 'greener', cost-effective motoring

With news just announced that the bi-annual British Motorshow has been cancelled for 2010, it's heartening to know that Eastbourne's motorshow is doing what it does best: bringing the local motoring dealershipstogether for an informative weekend of four-wheeled fun.

Now in it's 11th year the Eastbourne Motorshow is on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12thJuly in the grounds of Sussex Downs Park College, Kings Drive. It will be hosted by TV motoring presenter Mike Brewer.

On display will be hundreds of brand new cars, vans, motorbikes and motorhomes, all from local dealerships.

It allows visitors a unique way to shop around for their next new vehicle, without having to waste time and fuel driving to numerous dealerships.

The main arena cavalcades every 40 minutes will highlight one class of vehicles at a time; hatchbacks, sports cars, MPVs, 4x4s, saloons, vans or 'green' vehicles,. Mike Brewer, pictured right, will provide expert information on each model.

Once visitors have seen the vehicles in action they can immediately talk to the dealership staff, climb in and out of the vehicles and compare everything from boot size to storage space, MPG to CO2 emissions, colours, price and specification.

For many visitors it's the best way to compare all the motoring options in one place, while for others it's the ideal place to check out all the motorshow special offers and grab a bargain.

In 2008 a new category was added to the main arena cavalcades, which was so popular with visitors that it is going to be the centre piece of this summer's shows: the Green Car Challenge.

Now, more than ever, motorists are looking for ways of cleaning up their motoring, with the added advantage of saving money along the way.

The vast majority of manufacturers displaying at the event have made huge strides in recent years, developing new models to have lower CO2 emissions, higher MPG and lower road fund licence costs. Of course, it always costs money to trade in your used car for a new model, but a greener car could mean that you are saving a substantial amount on your annual running costs.

Motorshow organiser, Paula Edwards said "It seems a cliche to say that there has never been a better time to buy a new vehicle, but it really is the case at the moment.

Visitors to this summer's show will be able to view dozens of greener vehicles that could shave hundreds of pounds off your annual motoring bill, whilst creating less CO2 emissions.

"The show has always been a fun and relaxed way to choose a new vehicle, with plenty to keep children amused as you visit the stands.

"This year we also have a selection of local motor clubs displaying.

"It's not only a great day out, but a visit this year could change your mind about greener motoring, and that's good for everyone, not least of all the person paying the running costs!" continued. Paula
