Eco-friendly firm lands major contract

TWO EASTBOURNE businessmen behind an eco-friendly firm with the message that green installations don't cost the earth have landed a major contract.

Con Cronin and Rob Gellatly run Converteco and install solar hot water and electric systems, ground and air source heat pumps and rainwater harvesting systems using RM solar panels, and the firm is the main solar contractor for the prestigious Bluestone holiday development, regarded as one of the largest eco projects of its type.

The development consists of nearly 500 chalets nestling in the hillside of the Pembrokeshire national park and facilities include a large water park and indoor pool complex, partly fuelled by sustainable fuel grown within the village itself.

At the heart of the 110 million development, due to open later this year, is a replica Welsh village with shops and dining areas.

Con Cronin said, "We are very proud of our involvement at Bluestone.

"We also have a number of successful installations in the south east.

"With more than 50 years of combined experience we have definitely developed a strategy which delivers the highest standards.

"Our mission is to provide unrivalled service, workmanship and after sales care within a budget that makes it affordable to our customers.

"Any customers looking at technology of this type often ask the question is there a payback period and the simple answer is yes, providing the products will last the distance.

"The RM solar panels we use have a warranty of 20 years with a life expectancy of 35 years plus.

"Payback can be achieved in as little as six to eight years.

"Warranty is one of the most important factors, in short, the longer it lasts the more you save.

"We at Converteco truly believe that renewable technologies are the future.

"Since its conception the backbone of our company strategy was to provide alternative energy at affordable prices.

"With rising fuel prices and increased carbon emissions, we are well placed to offer advice support and service to the people of Eastbourne."
