The body of a man discovered in a burning van at an Eastbourne cemetery has been formally identified.

He was Devin Coode, aged 45, from Eastbourne.

An inquest was opened and adjourned yesterday (Thursday). Sussex Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers were called in by firefighters after they went to a vehicle fire in Willingdon Cemetery, Gorringe Valley Road, at 8.20am on Sunday (August 14).

The body of Mr Coode was found inside.

Police and forensic investigators spent much of the day at the scene and the cemetery was closed to members of the public.
