Bishop Bell schoolteacher Jeremy Forrest has this afternoon been found guilty of child abduction.
The 30-year-old had denied abducting his 15-year-old pupil and taking her to France in September last year.
But after two hours deliberation, the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict.
The schoolgirl involved in the case, who had told the jury she loved Forrest, was clearly upset and sobbed as the verdict was read out to the packed courtroom at Lewes Crown Court.
Forrest appeared emotionless in the dock and his mother and sister remained composed.
The case has been adjourned until 3pm when it is likely a victim impact statement from the girl’s mother will be read to the court.
It is likely he will be sentenced later this afternoon.
