A man has appeared in court charged with robbery following an attack on a cash in transit van outside the Waitrose supermarket in High Street, Eastbourne, last month.
Two staff from the van were at the cashpoint at the store on Tuesday April 30 when they were approached by two men who said they had a gun and demanded cash. The staff refused to hand over the cash and the men ran off towards the store’s car park area.
Billy Kevin Brown, 31, of Coronation Gardens, Battle, appeared in custody at Brighton Magistrates Court this morning (Friday)and was remanded in custody until an appearance at a Crown Court on July 19.
A 36-year old woman arrested on suspicion of the same offence was released on police bail until July 11 while enquiries continue.
Enquiries continue to trace a second man suspected of the same offence.
