Seven houses in one Eastbourne street were evacuated in the early hours of this morning (Sunday) after a lightning strike.
Firefighters were called to reports of fires in Schofield Way, Langney, at 2.45am as heavy rain and thunder and lightning struck across the town.
Seven homes in the road were said to have been hit and there were signs of lightning burns inside some of the properties.
A spokesperson at East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the electricity company was called in and firefighters were involved in making the properties weatherproof.
