After a difficult capture by rescuers Chris and Katie, the swan was taken to WRAS’ animal hospital.

According to a WRAS spokesperson, the blood is coming from the animal’s head, most likely after a collision of some form.

The spokesperson said, “We have been liaising with the Swan Sanctuary at Shepperton and the swan is going to be rushed up there for their specialist vets to assess, and may require X-ray and IV fluids and specialist veterinary care due to the head trauma.”
