WHILE most 90-year-olds might be celebrating their birthday with a slice of cake and a glass of sherry, one Eastbourne pensioner chose to jump from a plane instead.
Daredevil Daphne Bernard, along with her daughter-in-law Tracey Strathern, have been named Residents of the Month after they helped raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society with a 12,000 feet skydive in memory of Daphne’s beloved husband, Vic, who suffered with Alzheimer’s.
To recognise their bravery, Daphne and Tracey were presented with a Resident of the Month award by Mike Cottingham, a director at Advanta which jointly sponsors the award with the Herald.
As part of their reward, Daphne and Tracey are looking forward to a complimentary meal at Ridgways restaurant in Meads. To nominate someone who you think deserves recognition, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 411222.
