A STATIC bike ride is taking place at an Eastbourne business today (Friday) to raise money for the armed forces charity.
Staff at Eastbourne Coach Finishers in Birch Road will be doing the sponsored bike ride on Armed Forces Day between 9am and 6pm and hope to cycle 150 miles and raise £450 on the day.
Managing director Russell Turner, whose RAF paramedic son Graham is currently serving in Afghanistan, said the cycle ride would take place in the reception area with staff each taking 30 minute slots throughout the day.
He said, “We have some close personal links with the men and women of the Armed Forces and we hope this day raises the awareness of the sterling work they all do on our behalf.
“My son Graham is currently away in Afghanistan at the moment and our receptionist Sarah Keeley’s fiance is serving in the Army and has just recently returned from Afghanistan.”
Special themed cup cakes will be on sale during the day along with tea and coffee and Eastbourne’s mayor Mike Thompson will also be popping in to show his support during the day.
