A SEAFRONT hotel in Eastbourne beat off stiff competition to feature in a national television advert which is being watched by millions.
The Grade II listed Victorian hotel in Marine Parade was picked, with two others, from 463 Travelodge hotels to appear in a 30-second TV ad.
It is scheduled to also air during programmes such as Dancing on Ice, This Morning and Emmerdale.
The Eastbourne hotel was chosen for its architectural beauty and sea views.
David Turrell, manager at the Eastbourne Travelodge, said, “Not in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that my hotel would be starring in a national TV ad.
“It has been an amazing experience and such an honour for my hotel to be chosen to be in the advert.”
He added, “I am anticipating a very busy summer now Eastbourne Travelodge is being showcased on national TV.”
In the advert – featuring a cover of the Mamas and Papas’ ‘Go Where You Wanna Go’ – Travelodge’s mascots Mr Sleep and Big Ted are seen having fun on Eastbourne’s promenade and sunbathing in front of the hotel.
They round off their seaside trip by sampling ice cream on the seafront.
The other two hotels which appear in the advert are a converted farmhouse in Redditch and Travelodge’s flagship hotel, the London Covent Garden Travelodge.
