Willingdon residents are being warned about letters they may have received about their council tax.
A number of residents in Willingdon area have received a letter from a company claiming to reduce council tax. They have offered to assist residents to apply for correct banding of council tax.
Cllr Stephen Shing says the benefits offered to residents appear to be very attractive in today’s economic environment but told the Gazette, “I have great concerns that they appear to be asking for a substantial amount of personal information, some of which does not even appear to be relevant for council tax banding.”
Cllr Shing says anyone with concerns should contact the council directly and not through any third parties.
He added, “My advice to those residents who have spoken to me is simply that with the Wealden District area, most properties are already correctly banded.”
