The town’s cycling campaign group Bespoke has launched maps to show the best and more dangerous routes around town.

The group, which campaigns for safer cycling in the town, has launched a new version of Eastbourne’s Cycle and Leisure Map which highlights the safest and easiest routes for anyone wanting to get around town by bicycle.

Dedicated cycle tracks that are fully separated from the traffic are shown in green.

Felicity Goodson, from Bespoke, said, “Where there are gaps in the network we have suggested routes along quieter, safer roads, which are coloured blue.

“The busiest, most dangerous roads - where caution is advised - are marked red.

“The revised map is the result of extensive discussion with East Sussex County Council to clarify the legal position on cycle access, including in and around Sovereign.

We have the excellent Horsey Way through Roselands, now all the way off road to the Drove, which Alan Cooke of East Sussex County Council has laboured hard over, and which in the future will be connected to Sovereign Harbour eastwards and the station westwards.

All the bike shops in and around Eastbourne have the maps for cyclists.
