In Friday’s Herald, we reported that work on repainting the Beachy Head Lighthouse is set to begin in the new few weeks.

Campaigners to keep the iconic red and white stripes this week handed over a cheque for £27,000 – raised by the community – to officials from Trinity House which owns the lighthouse during a visit and a survey of the building.

Martin Wellings from Eastbourne Rotary AM, Herald chief reporter Annemarie Field and Cheryl Kassebi from the Keep the Stripes group were give a tour of the lighthouse by Trinity House directors, Jim Scorer, Roger Barker and Simon Millyard.

They revealed all was set for the repainting project which will see a team of specialists live on the lighthouse for three weeks .

Here is another selection of the behind the scenes photographs taken on the visit.
