A FIRE service employee has received a medal for 20 years’ service.
Angela Parker, a corporate information control co-ordinator based at the headquarters in Eastbourne, received the East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service medal for 20 years service.
Angela, pictured above, joined ESFRS in January 1991 as a secretary to the deputy county fire officer.
In November 1995, following 20 years’ Local Government Service, Angela was awarded a certificate for Long Service.
Angela had decided to take a temporary job in East Sussex Social Services Department in August 1974 due to her father’s Fire Brigade job relocating the family from Eastbourne to Brighton.
She remained in Social Services until 1991 when she transferred to the Brigade as the deputy county fire officer’s secretary.
Angela was promoted to office services supervisor before taking on her current role and is now also a member of the service’s Business Auditing team.
She is vice chairman of the ESFRS Mess Club, is responsible for compiling the quarterly newsletters and plays an active role in the Old Friends’ gathering event each year.
