A Sussex author is delighted after a group of dolphins swam alongside her family’s boat near Eastbourne on Sunday (October 18).

Alana Cowell and her family saw the dolphins while sailing near Beachy Head and before long the mammals surrounded the ship.

The family captured their experience on video, which shows the dolphins playing.

Alana said, “There were about 15 dolphins and a baby. At one point six were all riding at the side of our boat including the baby.

”It was so exciting we were all screaming. It was a wonderful experience. We had Caribbean music on and we were just off Beachy Head.”

Ms Cowell is author of To Sea or Not Sea, an autobiography about her experiences buying a yacht.
