TWO Eastbourne artists have had their work chosen for this year’s summer exhibition at the Royal Academy in London.

Julian Sutherland Beatson and Ann Johnson are both members of the recently formed Eastbourne Painters group and have had their work accepted to be shown at the prestigious exhibition.

“I’m thrilled to be accepted,” said Julian. “It will be great seeing my work in such a revered environment along with so many interesting pieces of art.”

Ann said, “I entered last year for the first time and had one painting selected. To be selected again – and have two paintings hung this time – is just fantastic. It’s fascinating seeing your work hung alongside so many others and to see if it can hold its own.”

The Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition is the largest open contemporary art exhibition in the world providing the opportunity for new and recent work by established, unknown and emerging artists to be shown together.

The exhibition runs until August 15.
