LOCAL artist Nigel Greaves has painted a portrait of Eastbourne mayor Carolyn Heaps. Nigel, who owns a gallery in Compton Street, painted it over a period of two months with two sittings.

It was unveiled at the gallery by Eastbourne Herald editor-in-chief Keith Ridley, watched by Cllr Heaps.

The medium used to paint the portrait is a high quality ground pigment mixed with an acrylic base and a polymer. This will ensure the portrait lasts for generations to come and will not crack or yellow.

The portrait will be on display until Christmas Eve. Nigel will then officially present it to the mayor on Christmas Day.
