Arrest made over charity bag thefts

POLICE have arrested a man they believe stole charity bags from Pevensey Bay.

Kent Police made the arrest in Dover.

He is alleged to have stolen bags from the Salvation Army, NSPCC and Manacare Foundation. Police believe he was attempting to take the bags abroad.

Police say thefts of charity bags are becoming a problem across Sussex, with concerned members of the public reporting a number of incidents.

PCSO Simon French, who covers the Pevensey Bay area, said he would like to thank members of the public for their vigilance.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity with the collection of charity bags is asked to call police on 101.
