The search is on for this year’s Carnival Queen and Princess who will take pride of place at Eastbourne’s Sunshine Carnival 2013 on Saturday May 25.

Our photographer will be in the Eastbourne Arndale Centre, sponsor of this year’s carnival, tomorrow (Saturday) so if you would like to be Carnival Queen or Princess or know someone who would be perfect for the role, then pop into the centre between 10.30am and 4.30pm.

With just a month to go, the line-up of floats is looking impressive but last minute entries are still coming in so if you’re thinking of taking part, there is still time.

Pageant Master Dave Cooper said, “We’ve been thrilled with the response from the local community and the line-up is looking fantastic so far. It’s great to hear so many people talking about this year’s Carnival.”

Bill Plumridge, manager of the Eastbourne Arndale Centre, this year’s main sponsor, said, “We are delighted to be involved with the carnival. Although it is only the second year that it has made a reappearance in the town’s calendar, it is already a highlight of the year for both residents and visitors alike. I hope as many people as possible will come into the centre tomorrow to take part in the search to find this year’s Carnival Queen and Princess.”

Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd, who led the campaign to bring the carnival back to Eastbourne after a 15-year break, said, “There’ll be a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes as the countdown to the carnival begins. We want this to be the best carnival in the south-east and I know we can all make it happen.”

The theme for this year’s carnival is Sussex by the Sea and anyone who would like to enter the carnival, or volunteer to be a steward should visit the website at www.east
