Police are appealing for information after two men tried to force a third man into a car in Eastbourne.

At about 4pm yesterday (June 4) the 27-year-old man was at the junction of Commercial Road and Upper Avenue in the town when two men grabbed him from behind.

The men dragged him into the road and tried to put him into a blue car parked nearby but the man fought them off and escaped.

Detective Constable Paul Kelly said, “This is a very rare and isolated incident and we are determined to find the men involved.

“This must have been a very frightening experience for the victim, who we believe was targeted, but thankfully he was not hurt.

“We need to speak to anyone who was in the area around Commercial Road and Upper Avenue who may have seen what happened or two men acting suspiciously.

“The victim has said a number of cars passed him during the incident so we are appealing for the drivers in particular to come forward.”

Anyone with information should email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 1136 of 04/06, call 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
