A COUNCILLOR had to apologise for calling a fellow councillor stupid at a meeting on Wednesday night (September 19).

Lib Dem Cllr Neil Stanley called opposition Tory Cllr Barry Taylor ‘stupid’ at the full council meeting at Eastbourne Town Hall.

It was during a debate on the demolition of the Wish Town Restaurant, which was pulled down earlier in the summer. Cllr Taylor said the Lib Dems had rushed into demolishing the ‘iconic’ building.

Cllr Stanley accused him of always bringing up the Wish Tower in meetings and said his suggestions were normally ‘stupid’. The Tories called for order in the meeting and Cllr Stanley apologised and said he meant to say Cllr Taylor’s ideas were ‘ill advised’ not stupid.
