ANIMAL loving centenarian Irene Allen enjoyed a morning with a travelling mini zoo to celebrate her birthday.

Irene, who lives at Inglewood Nursing Home, was visited by Terry’s Ark, a collection of small petting animals from the Seven Sisters Sheep Farm including a donkey, geese and chickens. She also received a card from the Queen and a small party was held with her nieces and nephews. The deputy mayor of Eastbourne Mike Thompson also attended with his wife Linda.

Irene was born in London and after training as a seamstress, worked in soft furnishings in Selfridges for her entire working life until she retired and moved to Eastbourne.

She never married and lived in Langney before moving to the Inglewood in Neville Avenue in 2008.
