A charity which has taken in stray and injured dogs is hoping the community will show its support at a fashion show it’s hosting next month.
Waifs & Strays Dog Rescue, which has kennels in Hailsham, rehabilitates and re-homes stray and abandoned dogs in East Sussex.
An appeal for donations last month to cover the vet bills for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Gemma saw people dig deep and it has also been supported by other organisations including the Wags & Bones Staffie Rescue Support. Gemma, who was thrown from a moving van, was treated for lungworm and dermatitis and another Staffordshire Bull Terrier Amy, which was found tied to a lampost and discovered to have cancerous tumours, was set to be operated on yesterday (Monday).
Both pooches are currently in foster homes.
To help raise further funds for the charity to continue its good work it is hosting a fashion show in Seaford on March 1.
The event is called Travelling Trends and has been organised by the rescue’s trustee Amy Ellett. There will be rails of high street brand clothes and accessories at reduced prices.
Vicki Thomas, the charity’s trustee, fundraiser and volunteer said, “It’s a fantastic evening out where you can support the rescue, grab some bargains and have fun with your friends.
“Tickets are only £6 and that includes a free non-alcoholic drink on arrival.
“At our last fashion show we raised over £400 for the rescue and we hope people will again support us at the fundraiser in March.”
The fundraiser will be held at the Clinton Centre at 7pm. You can pay via PayPal – Donate@waifsandstraysdogrescue.co.uk or collection of tickets can be arranged in Eastbourne, Seaford and Peacehaven. Please call Vikki for Eastbourne 07703 657923, Sue for Seaford on 07707 738925 or Amy for Peacehaven 07834 215868.
