An animal charity that re-homes abandoned dogs has just three weeks to raise enough cash to fly two stranded puppies home to England.
Happy Paws Puppy Rescue, based in Kings Drive, estimates travel costs for the pups are £600, and has launched a desperate appeal for readers to come forwards.
Happy Paws founder Lisa Smart said, “This is so important. We are a relatively small charity and we don’t have the funds available without help. I’ve watched these two pups grow and they’re a wonderful pair. We need to get them to a safe home.”
Millie and Mikey, as Happy Paws have named the pair, were dumped outside a pound in Cyprus a few months ago. Happy Paws has covered the vet costs to bring the animals to England, but is struggling to reach its £600 target for travel charges.
If the costs are not met by Happy Paws the dogs are likely to be put down. The fledgling charity, set up just two months ago by Lisa, aims to give a new life to any young dog that has been neglected, abandoned, or suffered cruelty.
