It’s just days away until Alfriston Festival will be in full swing and visitors can enjoy a whole host of family entertainment.

The event kicks off on Friday (August 23) and has grown from a village fair to activities being spread over the four days. A Family Fun Run, quiz night, car boot sale, historic walks, collectors’ car show and art exhibition are just some of the draws.

Most of the events will be taking place on the village Tye, although some activities will be held at other venues in the village including St Andrew’s Church and War Memorial Hall.

The festival is supported by a number of individuals, local businesses and other organisations. Funds raised from the four day affair will be shared between different good causes including Alfriston School, St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Alfriston War Memorial Hall and The Friends of Eastbourne Hospitals.

Musical entertainment will be provided by groups including Seaford Silver Band concert, the Royal British Legion Concert Band and Eastbourne Scottish Pipe Band.

The festival will culminate in the village fair taking place on Sunday from 2pm. Highlights will include pony rides, Morris Dancers, tradition games and stalls, a fun fair and the Johnny Spice Swing Band.

People can also get involved in the traditional wellie throwing competition and Family Fun Dog Show on the Sunday.
