Eastbourne singer-songwriter Alex Attrill has cruised through to the area finals of a national competition.
The 22-year-old performed in the regional finals of Open Mic UK at the Hove Centre earlier this month and easily progressed to the next stage, with judges saying, ‘’You play the keyboard so nicely and have a great image. The mash up was a good idea, it flowed nicely.’’
Alex will now prepare to perform in front of a bigger crowd in Ferneham Hall, near Southampton, on November 29, with one eye on making it through to the grand final.
The ex-pro apprentice footballer reached the final stage of the competition last year but despite positive feedback throughout the process, he narrowly missed out on the crown.
He said, “I am really excited to get this far in the competition again and hopefully, I can go all the way this time with my own collection of original tracks. Bring on the Area Finals!”
Open Mic UK bills itself as the biggest search for unsigned talent in the country and attracted 9,000 auditions last year with the promise of £5,000 and time in a recording studio for the winner.
Alongside the competition, Alex is also producing his first EP. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/alexjamesattrill.
