AIRBOURNE has won the dogfight between the Eastbourne airshow and its Bournemouth rival.
The four-day festival of flight has been voted the Best Free Airshow in 2011 by visitors to Airscene.co.uk, pipping Bournemouth to the post.
The popular Eastbourne event received the required nominations from Airscene members and went through to the public vote against Bournemouth Air Festival to win the title of Best Free Airshow 2011 with more than 380 votes cast in this category.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure Councillor Neil Stanley said, “We are very excited to have been voted the Best Free Airshow by visitors to Airscene and really pleased to hear we gave them the best experience in 2011.
“Every year we enjoy reading reviews of Airbourne posted on Airscene and it is fantastic to have been crowned the Best Free Airshow.

From the world famous Red Arrows dazzling crowds with their high-speed aerobatics to historic displays, including the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Airbourne attracts a packed programme of flying displays each year, complemented on the ground by arena displays, tri-service exhibitions from the RAF, Army and Royal Navy, Aviator Club hospitality marquee, Bandstand concerts, firework finale and more.
