A helicopter has just arrived on Eastbourne seafront to airlift an injured man to hospital.

Police were called to a property on Seaside Road at 4pm this afternoon after reports that an as yet unnamed person had fallen down a flight of stairs after an altercation.

Paramedics and fire crews also attended, with a cherry picker extendable ladder being used to help move the injured person from the second floor property. Eyewitnesses on the scene said they looked paralysed and unable to move.

Dozens of people stopped to watch, with many filming the rescue on their camera phones.

No arrests have been made and a spokesman for Eastbourne Police said it now appears to have been an accident, although they are continuing to speak to people who were nearby.
