These staff at the town’s Grand Hotel have been rewarded for their long service at the seafront venue – including four brothers from the same family who have notched up 148 years of service between them.

These most recent awards included four brothers from the Dantas family who have enjoyed long careers at the hotel with their combined years of employment adding up to an impressive 148 years.

Sales yield manager Lindsay Hawley also had cause to celebrate as the longest serving member at the awards, having spent 35 years working at the hotel.

The Long Service Awards is an annual event celebrating all staff with over five years’ service and is an established part of the hotel’s tradition.

Awards are presented during a commemorative tea by managing director of Elite Hotels, Graeme Bateman.

Jonathan Webley, general manager at the Grand, said, “Our annual Long Service Awards celebrate the commitment and loyalty of our staff, whom become well known to our regular guests.

“The Grand Hotel enjoys a long history of continuity and tradition and our staff are central in ensuring that our guests enjoy the style and luxury for which The Grand Hotel is renowned. ”

This year’s event saw a further 20 members of staff recognised for their long service, adding up to more than 200 years in total.
