Young singer Carl Parsons is to fulfil his dream of performing at London’s O2 arena – one of the country’s most prestigious venues.
The 12-year-old Hailsham Community College pupil has been competing in the national Open Mic 2012 and has fought off stiff competition to reach the finals.
On Sunday (December 9), he went up against 25 other young hopefuls and was put through to the finals after his rendition of Whitney Houston’s One Moment In Time.
Carl’s mum Shireen Parsons said, “He has always said that singing at the O2 would be his dream and now that dream is coming true.
“I just can’t believe he is my little boy when he is up there singing on stage and everyone is asking who he is – I have to keep pinching myself.
“He was absolutely amazing in on Sunday.
“He really brought the house down.”
The youngster is now getting ready for the performance of his life.
Shireen added, “I am not sure what he is going to sing in the final.
“We are going to have to find something that really shows off his voice.”
The Open Mic final in London will take place on January 19 in front of a panel of celebrity judges.
Carl and his family are hoping the competition will lead to a record contract and the chance for Carl to kick-start his career as a singer.
Shireen said, “Some people were saying their children had been back year after year and never got as far as Carl.
“I am so proud.”
Locals can see Carl perfom at Centre Stage at Bankers’ Corner in Eastbourne town centre during the late night shopping on December 13 and 20.
The events run from 4pm to 8pm.
